How to impulse the use of SUCRE as a mean of payment system in URUGUAY

Caracas, 03th oct.-  The president of the Regional Monetary Council Unitary System Regional Payments (SUCRE), Eudomar Tovar started this Thursday a two-day visit to Montevideo in order to promote the ratification of the Constitutive Treaty of this instrument by the parliament of Uruguay.

 

The agenda includes meetings with President of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, and Vice President Danilo Astori, as well as with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Fernando Lorenzo; the highest authority of the Central Bank of Uruguay, Mario Bergara, and deputies and representatives of Parliament, refers to a press release issued by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV).

 

In addition, it is planned to hold talks with leaders of the industrial and business sectors in Uruguay, and meetings with media, with the aim of promoting the advantages offered by the use of the Sucre as payment mechanism for trade between nations.

 

In March 2013, Uruguay formally requested to the Regional Monetary Council Sucre accession to the Consultative Treaty of the integration mechanism.

 

Meanwhile, representatives of States that currently make up this agreement (Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela) issued in favour of the Uruguayan request approval, officially communicated to Montevideo in July this year.

 

For this year is expected the full integration of the South American nation to the Monetary Council of SUCRE and the development of trade operations. SUCRE figures keeps growing.

 

The Unitary System Regional Payments (SUCRE), which began operations in January 2010, has registered a steady advance both in their business operations as for the amount of resources traded between public and private enterprises progress.

 

During 2012 were made 2.645 operations, against 431 who were held in 2011, representing an incensement of 520%.

 

Until 30th of September this year there have been 1,823 operations made per an amount of 647,500,000 of "sucres", equivalent to 809.5 million dollars.
