ALBA member countries establish multinational network of television stations

Caracas, 30 July.- The XII Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), which meets Tuesday in Guayaquil, in southwestern Ecuador, established the beginning of a multinational network of television channels for countries members, according to Prensa Latina.

 

According to the pres medium, by prior decision of the ministers of communication or their delegates, broadcasters of Ecuador, Bolivia, Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua will air live this meeting, as well as the international Telesur.

 

Alongside them, radio stations in these countries will disseminate the speeches of the leaders at the Summit, where an agenda of political, economic and social issues will be addressed.

 

Among the issues under discussion are the institutional strengthening of ALBA-Trade Treaty of the Peoples, widespread and expansion of the Unitary System of Regional Compensation (SUCRE) use, the Common Reserve Fund and the incensement of social programs and missions.

 

In Guayaquil are the highest level delegations of member countries: Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda and St. Lucia.

 

In addition, special guests are representatives of Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Suriname, Guyana and Haiti.

 

The Summit of Social Movements of ALBA will involve hundreds of delegates from social organizations and movements in the region, who are meeting from Monday in panels, forums and workshops.

 

In that sense, presidents are expected to hold a meeting with social movements in the facilities of Coliseo Voltaire Paladins Polo, in order to analyze the defence of democracy and the fight against transnational corporations,

 

The XII Summit of ALBA will be held a day after the meeting between the presidents Nicolas Maduro and Rafael Correa in Caracas.

 

The ALBA was created on December 14, 2004 and is made up of Bolivia, Nicaragua, Cuba, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Venezuela, in addition to Haiti as an observer and Suriname and St. Lucia as special guests.
